- Daniel Tozer
The Harbottle & Lewis Technology team has clients which operate at the forefront of advances in the uses of technology. We have considerable experience of issues relating to the design, development, procurement, deployment and use of new technologies, with particular expertise in the telecommunications industry and the creative industries of film, TV and video games.
We advise organizations supplying or purchasing the fundamental elements of the digital environment and facilities over it such as web-site design, hosting, ISP services, digital payment mechanisms, electronic cash and internet telephony.
Intellectual property rights lie at the core of the activities of almost all of our clients, and advising on them is central to what we do. Our expertise lies both in the legal framework underlying intellectual property rights of all types, and in the numerous industry models that have emerged for dealing in and protecting rights. We are active in development of IP policy and several of our lawyers sit on industry or legal bodies relating to the development of IP laws. In addition, we contribute regularly to public consultations on relevant areas.
We have a group of lawyers who specialize in intellectual property rights, and we also have groups of IP specialists who work in particular industry areas; technology, space/satellites, music, theatre, film, TV, sports, video games, publishing and visual arts. We believe that we are the only UK firm that has specialists dealing with each of these areas, and covering both traditional and digital rights. Our people know their industries very well, both the business models and the people involved.
